EMILIO RAMOS
Emilio Ramos (he/they) is a theatre director and creative collaborator based in New York City. Currently, he serves as Associate Director for the Tony-winning Broadway productions of Maybe Happy Ending and Hadestown.
Emilio directed the Off-Broadway revival of See What I Wanna See, which received three Drama Desk Award nominations, including Outstanding Revival of a Musical. They have helmed solo works for Breaking the Binary Theatre Festival (Cheeyang Ng’s Legendary) and Australian Theatre Festival NYC (Thomas Weatherall’s Blue), as well as a number of new plays and musicals currently in development. He is also the director and co-creator of Carey: The Emancipation of Mimi, a parody musical that fuses the literary greatness of Stephen King and Mariah Carey.
Other AD credits include the Tony-winning Broadway revival of Parade, Vanya (starring Andrew Scott) at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, and the acclaimed NYCC Encores! production of The Light in the Piazza. Emilio is also on adjunct faculty at NYU Steinhardt and was named as part of the Theatrely31 Class of 2025.
They are represented by Skyler Gray at The Gersh Agency and a proud member of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC).
Emilio is mixed-race Filipino and Anglo-Australian. He is gender non-conforming and uses he/they pronouns interchangeably. They live in Manhattan with his partner and their one-eyed dog, Sebastian.
